Rousing the minds of many people through her Baroda based paintings; Nilima Sheikh is a versatile painter who was deeply moved away by connection between stories and images. This pioneering woman is much into Eastern Paintings that bring to mind imaginary landscapes that more often express Feminine Experiences.
Born in New Delhi in the year 1945, Nilima Sheikh was graduated in History in Delhi. She completed her graduation in Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Baroda. Through years, Nilima Sheikh has nurtured her precious paintings and she put up her paintings in a solo exhibition in the year 1983 at New Delhi.
Her works of art predominantly include those that are related with environments, flora, fauna, interiors and landscapes. She recently concentrates much on Feminine subjectivity like the sufferings of women after arranged marriage like Dowry System, agonies of mindless husbands, adolescent marriage and so onZ. She also explores many other social issues through her works. Though she is trained in Western methods of training formally, Nilima has always been enthusiastic towards the traditional paintings of India.
Nilima Sheik has travelled all across the world and lectured a lot that is quite impressive as her paintings. Most of the heart throbbing works of the Veteran have been widely exhibited in many places; naming some are:
